The heart and Small Intestine meridians include:
The Heart Constrictor/circulation sex
The Triple Heater/triple warmer

Imbalances in the Heart and Small Intestine Meridians

Painful joint, fevers, feeling parched and arid in mind, body and spirit; lack of emotional warmth and receptivity to others; sexual coldness; poor circulation experienced as cold extremities, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, hot flushes, heartburn and digestive problems.

The Heart

The Heart oversees the body/mind/spirit
The heart influences the overall stability of our emotions.

The Small Intestine

The small intestine receives and assimilates the bulk of food, separates pure from impure and redistributes. An imbalance may appear as hearing difficulties, an inability to sort out sounds, digestive problems due to poor sorting and difficult decision making.

Heart Constrictor / Circulation Sex

The muscle of the heart; the heart protector, is in charge of blood flow and sexual secretions. It takes the bumps, bruises and traumas to protect the heart. Love relationships are guarded by this function.

Having and experiencing joy in our lives vs. sadness and grief keeps the heart happy.


Heart Meridian Blanacing Exercise

The Heart Meridian begins in the center of the arm pit and travels along the inside of the arm to the inside base of the little fingernail.

Heart balancing exercise

1 Sit on your heels.
2 Bend forward allowing your head to rest in front of your knees close
3 Place your hands underneath your feet so that the palms are facing up. Lace your little finger between your large and second toe.
4 Wag your behind back and forth.


Small Intestine Meridian Balancing Exercise

The Small Intestine meridian runs from the base of the baby finger along the outer edge of the arm to the shoulder, through the scapula over the shoulder ant the base of the neck and ends in front of the ear.

The Small Intestine meridian is responsible for assimilation of nutrients from food, absorption of water and assimilation of ideas. Elbow, shoulder pains and stiff necks are common ailments as a result of blockages in the Small Intestine Meridian which rules the shoulders and joints.

Heart balancing exercise

1 Sit on your heels and lower your head to the floor.
2 Interlace your hands, palms facing each other at the base of your spine.
3 Inhale and stretch your arms up. Hold for 30 seconds breathing deeply through the nose.
4 This creates pressure around the shoulder blades and is beneficial for building up resistance to cold and flu.
5 Exhale. Inhale repeat stretching further if possible.


Triple Warmer / Heater

The Triple Warmer/Heater begins at the ring finger travels up the outside center of the arm around the shoulders, up the outside of the neck and around the ear to the temple.

There are three sections to the body. The combination of these three is considered a functioning whole. This meridian also regulates body temperature.

Upper Warmer controls respiration.
Middle Warmer controls digestion.
Lower Warmer controls elimination.


Triple Warmer Balancing Exercise

Triple warmer balancing exercise

1 Sit on the floor with legs stretched in front of you.
2 Hands on the floor fingers pointing away from the body.
3 Arch the pelvis up to create a strait line between knees and shoulders.
4 Breath long and deep for one minute.
5 Relax down and lie on your back.


Heart Constrictor (pericardium) Meridian

The Heart Constrictor / Pericardium meridian begins in the chest muscle just outside the nipple, follows along the bicep muscle through thee inside of the elbow and the center of the inside of the arm to the tip of the middle finger.

The Pericardium also has sexual function. It connects with the Kidney meridian which is responsible for sexual secretions. It is also responsible for our feelings of happiness.

Heart constrictor balancing exercise

1 Sit on floor with bottoms of feet together.
2 Lean forward placing wrist under your feet, palms up; ankle bone pressing into the fold of the wrist.
3 Allow the body to relax and breathe deep for 30 sec.
