Stomach and Spleen Meridian

Imbalance as apposed to balance is the key understanding disharmony in these meridians. Anything to do with the intake of nourishment and the process of getting nourishment, bodily cycles like sleeping, breathing, thought process, body harmony and coordination may be signs of disharmony in the stomach spleen meridians.

The stomach receives nourishment and passes the food energy on to the spleen to be distributed. Lethargy, weakness, debilitation and digestive problems are connected to an imbalance in this system. Ulcers, anorexia, indigestion, obesity, vomiting, abdominal adema, nervousness, flightiness loss of balance and feelings of being alone are all signs of imbalance.

Signs of Disharmony in Stomach and Spleen

Lips may be an indication. Dry, cracked. Lack of or excess of saliva, as well as swallowing difficulties. The saliva in our mouth begins the digestive process.

Unable to give or receive sympathy or always seeking sympathy. Excessive belching. Someone who cannot stand or who loves humidity.Opinionated and not budging, as well as an inability to conclude thoughts.

Stomach Meridian

The stomach meridian begins below the center of the eye, it descends down the center of the throat, through the chest, nipples, abdomen and groin where it jogs over and down the outside of the center of the leg, over the instep, ending at the base of the second toe.

1 Kneel and sit on your heels.
2 Take a deep breath with your spine straight.
3 Exhale slowly lowering your chest to your knees compressing the breath out.
4 Use your thumbs to press (two fingers width below the eye) while you exhale down pressing lightly into the cheekbone.


Spleen Meridian

The spleen meridian which includes the pancreas begins at the inside base of the large toenail. It travel up the inside of the center of the legs to the groin, through the digestive organs up over the ribs to the outer part of the chest, and ends underneath the armpits.

The spleen is responsible for storing blood, forming antibodies, and producing white blood cells which help to fight off poisonous bacteria Menstruation is related to the spleen - pancrease meridian. The pancreas secretes enzymes that break down food into usable nutrients. It also regulated blood sugar levels by secreting insulin. The spleen transports energy to the lungs to nourish the whole body. If the Spleen - Pancreas meridian is damaged due to worry, excessive intake of sweets, or obsession the process of food transformation will be hindered. The person may be forgetful, weak, worried or have digestive problems.

1 Lie flat on your tummy, placing your arms underneath your body with your fists underneath your groin.
2 Chin or forehead on floor, feet together, raise legs with thigh off the ground.
3 This puts pressure on the spleen and stomach points in the groin area.

Continue with long deep breathing. Inhale deeply and stretch up, hold, exhale coming down, let go of your hands and allow yourself to relax completely.
